Cypraea xanthodon, yellow toothed cowrie

 

Features

bluish-green with 3 darker bands, central brown blotch and side flecks.
sides with brown spots; base brown to rose; apertural teeth short and reddish yellow.

Distribution Torres Strait to central NSW, the only cowrie endemic to eastern Australia.
Depth inte-rtidal and shallow sub-tidal on rocks coral and sponges.
Max size 40mm
