Features

white to light orange, spotted brown or black, prominent mantle line;
short coarse apertural teeth;
furry, narrow-striped mantle which is the basis of the common name.

Distribution Indo - west Pacific; northern Australia, central WA to northern NSW
Depth lower inter-tidal to moderately deep sub-tidal; among coral sponges or rocks, unusually for cowries it is often found in the open.
Max size 150mm, the largest cowrie in the Indo-west Pacific
