Roboastra gracilis
slender roboastra
These photos of the Slender Roboastra, Roboastra gracilis, illustrates a number of interesting features of this animal. In the centre of the back there are three gills. Rudman reports that the deep pits in the yellow stripes are glands which secrete a yellow substance when the animal is disturbed. On the top of the head the rhinophores are distinct, lower down, at the front, the two oral tentacles can be seen. These are characteristic of this genus, other members of which are known to hunt down and eat opisthobranchs.
