Cheilodactylus fuscus, red morwong

The Red Morwong, Cheilodactylus fuscus, is very common at Julian Rocks, and is the most common morwong on NSW reefs. It has a reddish brown upper body, with pale bands near the tail, and a small pair of horns in front of the eyes.

 

Distribution eastern Australia and NZ.
Depth 0 - 30m
Max size 65cms, usually 30cms
