Cyprinocirrhites polyactis, lyre-tail hawkfish

The Lyre-tail Hawkfish, Cyprinocirrhites polyactis, is light pinkish brown, yellow or orange. The little tassels on the ends of the dorsal fin spines are characteristic of hawkfishes although most hawkfishes have patterned bodies. The filament at the middle of the dorsal fin and the long, lunate caudal fin are charateristic of this species . The Lyre-tail Hawkfish is often found resting on sponges when not feeding, it feeds on zooplankton well above the bottom.
