maori cod, scribbled rockcod
Juvenile Maori or Scribbled Cod,
Epinephelus undulatostriatus, are strongly striped. As they age the stripes become finer and eventually break up into spotted lines. The spots on the face are reddish in colour.
Family = Serranidae - rockcods and seapearches
Max size = 40cms
Distribution = southern Qld to southern NSW
