Chrysophrys auratus Schneider 1801
snapper
Snapper are usually silvery, through pink to brown. The upper body is scattered with small blue spots, which are most obvious in young specimens. Younger ones have a pointed face, older ones develop a large bony bump on the front of the head.
Family = Sparidae
Max size = 1.2m
Distribution = west pacific, widespread southern Australia and NZ
