The southern peacock sole, Pardachirus hedleyi , is a well camouflaged, flat bodied, bottom dweller. Dark edged white blotches and a series of darker blotches cover the top surface, the underneath is plain, colours can change quickly. Both eyes are together. There is a series of toxic glands along dorsal and anal fin bases, which are visible as pores.
