Acanthurus pyroferus, mimic surgeonfish

The juvenile Mimic Surgeonfish, Acanthurus pyroferus (above) is bright yellow, adults are completely different in shape and colour. Juveniles mimic Herald's Angelfish and the Lemonpeel Angelfish. The juvenile Mimic Surgeonfish is similar to the juvenile Orange-blotch Surgeonfish but can be distinguished by the bright blue edge on the anal fin and the more convex tail.

They graze on algae on rocks or sand
