Dascyllus trimaculatus, three-spot dascyllus, domino

These tiny fish are juvenile three-spot dasyllus, Dascyllus trimaculatus. They are jet black with one white spot on each side and one on the head. Juveniles are often found in groups among anemones or urchins.

Adults are more grey and the spots less distinct. As they age they lose the ability to live among anemones. Adults are usually in pairs.

They feed on algae and planktonic crustaceans.
