Juvenile Dusky Butterflyfish, Chaetodon flavirostris, (above), have a black band around the head and a black spot near the posterior margin of the dorsal fin.

Adults (below) have grey sides with distinctive yellow orange, and black fin patterns, an orange snout and white mouth. Juveniles are usually solitary, whilst adults are often in pairs.
