Bodianus perditio Gaimard 1835

gold-spot pigfish, golden-spot hogfish

 

The juvenile Gold-spot Pigfish, Bodianus perditio, is yellow with a white bar and black patch.

As the fish grows, the body colour becomes redder but the white bar is still conspicuous.

Adults are reddish, the black patch remains and the white bar becomes a yellow spot.
