Cleidopus gloriamaris, pineapplefish pineapple fish

The Pineapple fish, Cleidopus gloriamaris, has a round body, covered by yellow to orange, plate like scales.There are heavy backward pointing spines on the plates and black lines between them.

The red patch on the face is a light organ. It is greenish in juveniles. The light is produced by symbiotic bacteria.

Pineapple fish feed mainly at night on small shrimp.
