Linckia laevigata
blue seastar
The brilliant blue seastar, Linckia laevigata, has a small central disc and long thin arms. Its colour can sometimes be much paler.
It
is a scavenger and feeds on algae. It often has tiny commensal
starfish shrimp on lower surface of the arms, near the mouth. |
