Hymenocera elegans
harlequin shrimp
The Harlequin Shrimp, Hymenocera elegans, is white with large spots, in this case blue, but in other locations they may be pink.
Harlequin Shrimp have unusual paddle shaped front claws.
They often work in pairs and feed on live sea stars, which they immobilise and may invert. They often eat the tube-feet which are on the underside, they sometimes remove entire arms.
