Dendronephthya sp.
spiky soft coral, prickly red tree coral
Dendronephthya stalks are usually white and the polyps which are crowded together in spherical clumps range from orange through red and pink to purple. Long needles of calcite are visible. Dendronephthya is a filter feeder, mainly on phytoplankton. |
